Leeds is a lively city, rich in culture and heritage with lots to explore. More than 750,000 people live within our city boundaries and over 100,000 people come to work in the city centre every day. Many thousands more tourists and visitors come to shop, eat out or enjoy the range of attractions Leeds has on offer.

Leeds combines a fast-paced, lively city centre with the serenity of calming countryside within easy reach. Its stunning architecture, world class sporting venues, outstanding opera and ballet companies, and Yorkshire's most distinguished and exciting restaurants are just some of the many things that make Leeds such a great place for all to enjoy.

Leeds is a shopaholic’s dream – from the exquisite Victorian arcades to the contemporary complex The Light and the vibrant Kirkgate Market, the city centre caters for every taste and budget. Shopping in Leeds was rated amongst thirty essential ‘things to do’ for visitors to the UK by the Rough Guide to Britain 2006.

Leeds is also known as an international hub of leading arts and culture. Next to London, Leeds proffers some of Britain’s best art including 20th Century sculpture masterpieces at Leeds Art Gallery. A visit to the West Yorkshire Playhouse never fails to astound. It is the largest producing theatre outside London and Stratford.

Music lovers will enjoy the 3 day Leeds Festival held or perhaps the lively atmosphere at the West Indian Carnival, and the ever glamorous Leeds Pride. Classical Fantasia, Party in the Park and Opera in the Park are held every year in the stunning grounds of Kirkstall Abbey and Temple Newsam. Leeds nightlife is always buzzing with more than enough bars, clubs and music venues to keep you entertained all year round.
