POPULATION : over 300,000
Ealing is highly industrialized: motor vehicles, scientific
instruments, glass, plastics, and engineering products are
manufactured. Thames Valley Univ. is there, and the largest Sikh
temple outside India is located in the Southall district. Cardinal
Newman went to school in Ealing, and the former French king Louis
Philippe taught in the borough. The biologist Thomas Huxley was born
in Ealing.
Ealing Council serves the residents and businesses of London's third
largest borough, which is located in the heart of west London. The
council provides dozens of different services, from disposing of
abandoned cars to running the Brent Lodge Animal Centre.
Local elections are held every four years to select 69 councillors
who, between them, represent 23 wards across the borough. In May 2010
the borough elected the following representatives:
40 Labour councillors
24 Conservative councillors
5 Liberal Democrat councillors.
Councillor Julian Bell is the Leader of Ealing Council and Martin
Smith is the council's Chief Executive.

Hanwell - A hidden gem with beautiful green areas with a very
rural feel as well as great canal walks.
Greenford - Greenford is a small town centre with a strong
community feel and a diverse population
